Job Description

Position Overview


The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for successfully conducting applied behavior analysis and therapy with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in a residential setting. Providing ABA services in this setting requires intensive skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and staff training.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ABA using best practices and implement changes as client needs change based on the data and changing needs of each individual.
  • Provide direct behavior analysis and services. This includes planning sessions, implementing treatment plans, conducting and writing functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), monitoring process and changing objectives as needed and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Create individual behavior therapy goals that are realistic and achievable in accordance with the PCP and/or ISP.
  • Record data for each goal during each session.
  • Write monthly and quarterly reports and yearly progress reports, recommendations for services, consultation reports, discharge summaries, etc. as needed.
  • Provide support for families by attending meetings or other conferences.
  • Conduct behavioral assessments and makes referrals to the professionals to ensure individuals receiving services are receiving quality programming.
  • Provides expert consultation and training to service providers, which include general approaches to programming to quality behavioral services.
 
 
 


Qualifications


  • Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or those seeking their certification
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, education or a related field, Master's Degree preferred
  • Two years experience in providing behavioral services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or Autism within residential services
  • Knowledge of the clinical best practices in behavioral services to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience providing technical assistance and training
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff, consumers, and other stakeholders
  • Strong administrative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
