Job Description

Position Overview


The Maintenance Worker ensures the proper maintenance and upkeep of the shelter. Responsibilities include assisting in developing consumer’s ability to maintain individual residents on basic cleaning and safety, maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility. The Maintenance Worker oversees floor care (mopping, sweeping, buffing, waxing), cleaning cafeteria and kitchen areas, bathrooms, emptying trash, separating recyclables, emptying garbage, wiping windows and walls, and cleaning stairways and/or elevators. Minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned areas of the facility, including; painting, plastering, repairing furniture, maintaining smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting working with special needs population required
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills
  • Driver’s License strongly referred
