Job Description

Position Overview


Reporting to our Controller, the Senior Accountant will conduct routine and specialized Accounting functions while preparing routine accounting reports.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze Balance Sheet and Income Statement Accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis, prepare related schedules
  • Prepare, post monthly accruals/prepayments, payroll/fringe benefits including allocations
  • Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements for all segments of SUS
  • Play a senior role in monthly, quarterly and year-end closings
  • Assist with year-end audits
  • Liaise with banks, prepare Bank Reconciliation, custody of all bank information, prepare wires, stop payments, ACH reports, return items, make related Journal Entries, etc.
  • Liaise with lenders, reconcile, pay loans and prepare compliance loan covenant reports for lenders, borrowing base certificates, interest accruals and other related journals, etc.
  • Build a relationship with SUS Insurance Broker, maintain related schedules
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget
  • Prepare CFR and any CFR related inquiries/issues
  • Maintain tight control of accounting records
  • Responsible for monthly General Ledger clean up
  • Responsible for on-going projects as per request of Controller and/or senior management

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  CPA or CPA candidate or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Sr. Accountant with emphasis on financial analysis, and compilation of Financial Statements preferably in a Non-Profit environment.    
  •  Experience in Fund EZ and/or Abila MIP a plus.                  
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods and practices of bookkeeping and financial record keeping and proven ability to conduct moderately complex accounting functions.
