Position Summary:
The Therapeutic Resource Center Program Manager will oversee community-based crisis intervention and prevention services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs.


Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee the milieu and therapeutic programming of the Resource Center including the implementation of therapeutic activities and groups
  • Supervise all Counselors including Lead Counselor
  • Plan and implement structured day community programming for all guests, including obtaining community volunteer linkages.
  • Ensure that after training by the Clinical Director or Psychologist all staff implements therapeutic activities and provide materials as needed
  • Lead at least one therapeutic group/activity per day or more as required
  • Maintain the duties of the Resource Center Director when Resource Center Director is unavailable oversee/participate in staffing, center/grounds maintenance, food/supplies ordering
  • Provide direct care to guests including assistance with ADL’s as necessary
  • Provide de-escalation and intervention supports for guests experiencing stress
  • Assist Counselors with accomplishment of guests’ goals and objectives
  • Assist in data collection and reporting with regard to participation in and benefit of therapeutic activities
  • Communicate with the NYSTART clinical team regarding guest responses to interventions and what is learned about behaviors signs/symptoms, setting events, triggers and effective intervention
  • Attend all required meetings with NYSTART leadership, triage, daily clinical and shift huddles, clinical team, and other meetings as required
    • Ensure the collection of data and documentation on guest access and utilization of the Resource Center
    • Resource Center 24 hr. On-Call Administrator for one week every three weeks
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Required Qualifications: 
    • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, recreation therapy, expressive therapy or related field with experience in a therapeutic setting
    • At least 2 years' experience working with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs
    • Experience in programming for individuals with challenging behaviors
    • Experience with utilization of expressive therapies (music therapy, art therapy, recreation therapy, occupational therapy etc.
    • Ability to work a flexible 24 hr schedule Monday through Sunday.
